'Blood on the Leaves' : Review of 'Yeezus'

Kanye really went down a new, maybe foreseen path for his sixth studio album. Intitled Yeezus, (which seems corny as fuck to me, I would have rathered Good Ass Job like it was supposed to be) this album continues down a more darker and twisted path for Yeezy that was laid with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Now maybe I'm a little biased, as he is one of my top 5 rappers, and in my eyes can almost do no wrong...
Yeezus was actually a very well put together piece. It definitely is a venture off the deep end from conventional mainstream artist, but I definitely feel this new anti consumerism/capitalist feel the album gives. From the promotion to the albums release, nothing has been typical. He didn't promote it through the usual means, and dropped the album the 18th of June with almost no promotion of the lead and so far lone single, Black Skinhead. It continues where MBDTF left off, with the same style of dark themed songs. The production is bonkers, and songs like On Sight, I Am A God ( featuring God himself, lol's there) and New Slaves have this fresh new style of Neo Techno rap beats. It's a new feeling and breathe of freshness to the same stale ass beats every other rapper is on at the moment. Kanye is in his own lane. And that's maybe why certain people don't really feel the album. It did 327k it's first week, not really big numbers for someone on Kanye's level. But considering that almost no promotion was done besides the premiering of New Slaves on buildings around the world (going along with the neo-modern art them of this album), those are actually really good numbers. The album received mostly critical acclaim from almost all sources.

Whether you like the lane Yeezy took with this album, you have to respect that it is something new and daring. As quoted in New Slaves, "You see it's leaders and its followers.. and I'd rather be a dick than a swallower". Yeezus definitely is leading.
