Pat's Justice: Bringing Politics to Hip Hop

So who is Pat's justice ? Pat's Justice is a performance poet from Los Angeles. Self proclaimed "Artivist." He was well recognized in 2007 when he was invited to preform on HBO's def poetry jam when he was 19 years old. His piece, "innocent criminal" is a striking piece about the reality of his street life. This man is phenomenal. I first heard of him from my brother. I listened to a couple of tracks and was instantly hooked. He raps about real life struggle that many can relate to. He pinpoints the government for all the fuckery they put us through with no fear in his heart what so ever, if you enjoy REAL music check him out ! Throwback Trax: OnDaSpot Freestyle x K.Dot & Ab Soul

I'm not really the biggest fan of freestyles, one because they aren't really off the top anymore. Another reason is alot of rappers suck at it. Terribly. However, TDE's very own Soul brotha 1 + 1 and Kendrick Lamar went on OnDaSpot and fuckin crashed it. I didn't like the way the DJ kinda put Soulo on the spot though, and was just like "ohh Kendrick you can go in if you want to". But Soul went the fuckkkk in anyway and in my opinion definitely had the better freestyle, considering K.Dot's verse is from Talib Kwali's Push Thru joint (ft. Spitta.. check it out). Either way they both spazzed and showed why TDE is one hip hop group thats about to take over.. Check out the freestyle after the break.

Ab Soul - Nibiru

The black lipped bastard dropped his track from TDE Fam appreciation week. Titled Nibiru, Soul goes in about an end world theory about a planet the size of Jupiter believed by some astrologist to collide with Earth and end us all around December.

Cudder x "King Chip" - Just What I Am

Cleveland natives Kid Cudi, and the artist formerly known as Chip tha Ripper*, joined on a new track recently called Just What I Am. Its a really good listen. For fans of either of these dudes you know they have a good track history together (See Hyyerr). Both of the kids from Cleveland really put on for their home. Cudi also produced the beat himself. It really seems like he's coming into himself as an artist, finding his style and perfecting it more and more. His next album, called Indicud, will for sure be copped. Anway check the song after the break..

Under the Scope: The Tay

A producer who you might have not heard of, The Tay, is who I'm giving the spotlight in this Under the Scope post. I first ran into The Tay while watching funny ass videos by the Dormtainment crew. These niggas are hilarious, you should really check them out in your spare time. Anyway though, one of the dudes in  the group had linked a song he had made on their sight and I checked it out. It later led to about an hour and a half of me just listening to dude's tracks. He is a really good producer. His beats are, I don't know if I could compare them to anyone to put it in context, but I'd say kinda reminiscent of some of the Neptunes work. But even that is really doing no justice to his own personal style. One of his projects that stood out to me was the free short tape Japanese Porn. All the beats are real bangers, take a listen:

The Top Dawg Under Dawg.

Top Dawg Entertainment in my opinion has the best line up of rappers in the game right now known as Black Hippy. Maybe it's just a west coast thing. If you fuck with TDE you're probably on Kendrick's nuts right now since he's finally getting the recognition he deserves, Jay Rock has been around forever, scHoolboy Q might be another you don't really know, and then there's Ab-soul. THAT nigga. This man is a lyrical genius, definitely the "Real Thinker" of black hippy...

Why ..

I don't understand. I've been a Wiz fan since my brodie put me on Prince of the City 2, and regardless of how many people think his music is taking a mainstream turn I still respect dude for doing him regardless. And lets not bullshit, Taylor Allderdice was that fuckin mixtape. But this shit, I just don't get it. I feel like he wants to be like Hendrix so bad. Either that or he lets Amber his stylist do whatever the fuck they want. But this is fuckin' crash dummy. And I don't buy his tweets justifying this either:

Throwback Trax: Nothing But Us x Spitta

If you know me, you know I'm a HUGE Curren$y fan. Dude is original as it gets, and he refuses to change up his music style for mainstream status. And he's really as humble as it gets, I've been to all his houston concerts since I've started listening to him and dude always meets fans and takes pictures and signs autographs for everyone after the show no matter how long he's out there. Really just a great artist.

Late Nights with Jeremih

Yesterday Jeremih dropped a DJ Drama hosted Mixtape, Late Nights with Jeremih. I personally feel he is a highly underrated RnB singer. He has this sort of trap singer voice that fits perfect on hooks with artist like Gucci Mane (my favorite being "Too Sexy" off of Gucci's I'm Up). I think he notices this too as he has a song with current trap music hall of famers Gucci and 2 necklaces chainz on the tape.
